Catholic Tidbit: St. Anthony of Padua’s Record-Breaking Canonization
St. Anthony of Padua, one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic Church, holds the record for the fastest canonization in history!
After his death on June 13, 1231, reports of miracles at his tomb spread rapidly. Just 11 months later, on May 30, 1232, Pope Gregory IX officially declared him a saint—an incredibly fast process, considering canonizations often take decades or even centuries.
This quick canonization was a testament to his holiness, preaching, and the countless miracles attributed to his intercession. Today, he is widely venerated as the Patron Saint of Lost Things and continues to be one of the most invoked saints in Catholic tradition.
St. Anthony of Padua, pray for us!
