இன்றைய திருநாளில், திருச்சபை மகா பரிசுத்த தேவமாதா ஜெருசலேம் தேவாலயத்திற்கு சென்று சுத்திகரச் சடங்கை நிறைவேற்றியதை நினைவு கூர்கிறது. இது திவ்ய குழந்தை சேசுநாதர் பிறந்த 40வது நாளாகும்.
வேதப் பிரமாணம் மற்றும் தேவமாதாவின் தாழ்ச்சி
மோயீசனுடைய வேதப் பிரமாணப்படி, முதல் ஆண் குழந்தையைப் பெற்ற தாய்மார்கள் சுத்திகரச் சடங்கில் பங்கேற்க வேண்டும்.
மகா பரிசுத்த தேவமாதா எந்தவித பாவமுமில்லாத மாசற்ற கன்னிகை என்பதும், முழு விதிவிலக்கைப் பெற்றிருந்தவரும் என்பதும் விசுவாச சத்தியம். இருந்தபோதும், சர்வேசுரனின் பிரமாணங்களை மதிப்பதற்காக, தங்கள் தாழ்ச்சியை வெளிப்படுத்தியவாறு தேவாலயத்திற்குச் சென்றார்கள்.
திவ்ய குழந்தையின் சமர்ப்பணம்
பல மைல்கள் நடந்து, தங்களது திவ்ய குமாரனை கரங்களில் ஏந்திக்கொண்டு தேவாலயத்திற்குச் சென்ற தேவமாதா, அவரை நித்திய பிதாவாகிய சர்வேசுரனுக்குச் சமர்ப்பித்தார்கள்.
வேதப் பிரமாணத்தின்படி, ஐந்து ஷெக்கல் பணம் கொடுத்து, தங்கள் திவ்ய குமாரனை மறுபடியும் வாங்கினர்.
சிமியான் தீர்க்கதரிசியின் வார்த்தைகள்
சிமியான் தீர்க்கதரிசி திவ்ய குழந்தையை கரங்களில் ஏந்தி வழிபட்டார்:
> “ஆண்டவரே, உமது வாக்கியத்தின்படியே, உம்முடைய தாசனை இப்போது சமாதானத்தோடு போவிடுவீர்! ஏனெனில், தேவரீர் சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் முன்பாக ஏற்படுத்திய இரட்சிப்பை என் கண்கள் கண்டுகொண்டன! அது, புறஜாதிகளைப் பிரகாசிப்பிக்கிற ஒளியாகவும், உமது ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ராயேலருக்கு மகிமையாகவும் இருக்கிறது!”
அதன் பிறகு, தேவமாதாவை நோக்கி,
> “இவர், இஸ்ராயேலில் அநேகருக்குக் கேடாகவும், உத்தானமாகவும், விரோதிக்கப்படும் குறியாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிறார். உம்முடைய ஆத்துமத்தையும் ஓர் வாள் ஊடுருவும்! இதனால், அநேகருடைய இருதய சிந்தனைகள் வெளிப்படும்படியாகும்!”
அன்னாள் தீர்க்கதரிசினியின் வணக்கம்
அன்னாள் என்ற வயது முதிர்ந்த தீர்க்கதரிசினி, ஆண்டவரைத் துதித்து, இஸ்ராயேலின் இரட்சிப்புக்காகக் காத்திருந்த அனைவரோடும் மகா பரிசுத்த தேவபாலனைப் பற்றிப் பேசினார்.
திருநாளின் முக்கியத்துவம்
இந்த திருநாள் 4ம் நூற்றாண்டின் முதல் பாதியிலிருந்து திருச்சபையால் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
தியானிப்போம் – தாழ்ச்சியின் மதிப்பு
மகா பரிசுத்த தேவமாதாவின் ஆழ்ந்த தாழ்ச்சியை நாம் தியானிப்போமாக!
தாழ்ச்சியே நிலைமையான சமாதானத்திற்கு வழிவகுக்கும்.
தாழ்ச்சியுள்ளவர்களுக்கு தேவர் தனது கிருபையை அருளுகிறார்.
சர்வேசுரனின் திருப்பணியை தாழ்ச்சியுடனும், ஆராதனையுடனும், முழுமையாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்வோம்.
Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today, the Church commemorates the Blessed Virgin Mary's Purification and the Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple, an event that reflects her deep humility and obedience to God's law.
Mary’s Humble Obedience to the Law of Moses
According to the Law of Moses, a woman who gave birth to a male child was required to wait forty days before presenting herself in the Temple for purification and offering a sacrifice (Leviticus 12:2-8).
Although the Blessed Virgin Mary was sinless and exempt from this law, she humbly submitted herself to it, demonstrating her reverence and devotion to God.
The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple
Another ordinance required that every first-born son be consecrated to God, as a remembrance of how the first-born sons of Israel were spared in Egypt.
Mary, following the law precisely,
Traveled several miles to Jerusalem with the Infant Jesus in her arms.
Offered the sacrifice of the poor—two turtle doves or two pigeons.
Presented her divine Son to the Eternal Father through the hands of the priest.
Redeemed Him with five shekels, in accordance with the law.
Though Jesus belonged to the Father from all eternity, Mary accepted the sacred duty of caring for Him until the time of His ultimate sacrifice for the salvation of mankind.
The Prophecy of Simeon and the Witness of Anna
At the Temple, the holy prophet Simeon received the Child Jesus in his arms and prophesied:
> "This is the light which shall give revelation to the Gentiles; this is the glory of Thy people Israel!" (Luke 2:32)
Turning to Mary, he also foretold:
> “A sword shall pierce your soul, so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
The prophetess Anna, who had spent her life in prayer and fasting, also recognized the Child and spoke of Him to all who awaited the redemption of Israel (Luke 2:38).
A Feast Rooted in Early Christianity
This feast has been celebrated in the Church since the first half of the 4th century A.D. It reminds us of:
Mary’s humility and obedience
The revelation of Christ as the Light of the world
The fulfillment of God’s promises through the Messiah

Let us strive to imitate the humility of the ever-blessed Mother of God, remembering that humility is the path that leads to lasting peace and brings us closer to God, who gives His grace to the humble.
